The postcode checker
When you check a postcode, your browser remembers the first part of it (for example RM2) in session storage for this tab only, so that we can count whether a check led to a call or an assessment request. It is not a cookie and it is deleted when you close the tab. The statistical count we keep is described in our privacy policy.
Switch off postcode statistics
You can switch this off. Press "Do not count my postcode checks" and this browser will not store or send any postcode statistics. To remember your choice, your browser keeps one setting (soma_pc_optout) in its local storage on this device. It is not a cookie and is never sent to us.
Postcode statistics need JavaScript. Without it, your browser sends no postcode statistics.
Content from other providers
The rating boxes at the foot of every page are the official widget of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), loaded from cqc.org.uk. The CQC receives your connection details, such as your IP address and the page you are on. The widget sets no cookies.
One article includes an audio player provided by SoundCloud. The player loads only when you press its play button. SoundCloud then receives your connection details, such as your IP address and the page you are on.

If we add website analytics that use cookies or identify you, we will ask for your consent first, with an equally easy way to say no, and update this page before the change goes live.
